I'm so excited to see that Doodle Bugs Teaching has returned with Five for Friday! I LOVE her new linky button!!
Here are five random things from my week.
On Monday, I stopped in to my classroom to drop off a basket of books and to put up a few bulletin boards. Summer school starts on Monday, but I am not teaching until August 14th. (We run our summer school for the three weeks before school starts and I am splitting the duty with my teamie Jamie.)
See that stuff above my cabinets...it has been driving me crazy, so I finally climbed up there and took it down. I want to be less cluttered this year so that was a good place to start.
Kara left on Wednesday to take a trip to Dallas with Grandma & Grandpa to visit my sister who moved down there in July. Kara reports that she loves their pool, especially since it was 104 degrees when they got there yesterday. While she is there, she wants to buy some cowboy boots (which I'm pretty sure they sell here in Wisconsin, but she says they are not the same.)
The weather here has been pretty miserable this week. This was the view out of my office window this morning.
I realize the window screen is in the way, so here's what the view through the sky light looked like.
With all this rain and cool weather, it is definitely feeling like back to school time!
Because the weather was so icky, I was able to make a few new products for my TpT store.
The first is a very cute superhero label for my Writer's Toolbox kit that I will give each student to help us write with style this year! I got the idea for the toolbox from my new BBB Joanne at Head Over Heels for Teaching.
I bought the pencil slider cases at Menards last week for 39 cents each. Inside, I put a few erasers, a pencil, a highlighter, a colored pen and a word right that right now contains Joanne's Synonym Word Cards from her TpT store.
I like that the toolbox will keep all of my students' writing supplies in one place and they can easily bring them with to conferences or guided writing groups. If you would like to make your own toolboxes, you can pick up my label in my TpT store.
The other product that I just finished is my Number of the Day Task Cards.
I have seen lots of different versions of daily number work out there and this is a system that I worked out to fit my needs last year. So I made it all cutesy-cutesy, laminated it with my trusty and beloved laminator, made a nice, bright board to put them on, and I am ready to go!
I plan on using the Number of the Day for Morning Work or as a Math Warm-Up. There are 24 cards total, but I will pick 4-8 cards a day, depending on how much time we have. This product has been added to my TpT store, and to celebrate the sun FINALLY coming out this afternoon, I will give away my Number of the Day Task Cards to two lucky winners! Enter using the Rafflecopter below. Drawing ends at midnight on August 7th. Good Luck!!!
