Monday Made It {July 8, 2013}

Just a quick link up with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics for her Monday Made It party!

If you read my post yesterday, you know that I am having a really hard time focusing on getting anything done so I consider these projects to be great accomplishments (although maybe not very crafty!).  From catching up with Tara, it seems that I am not alone in this craziness, which makes me feel a little better.  :)

Project #1:  Boy Scout Uniforms

My son and husband presented me with four Boy Scout uniforms that needed complete patch sets sewn on them to get ready for the Boy Scout Jamboree this week.  Here is what my dining room table looked like:
This was not a fun project because those patches are all different shapes and my nylon thread kept breaking.  I did laugh out loud however when my husband volunteered to sew them on using my sewing machine...He has never sewn before!  I should have let him try for a little comic relief to my week!  :)
Project #2:  Communication Boards for Home

With two high schoolers, our calendars are getting a little busy.  It's important that we know where everyone needs to be so we can get them there or pick them up.  (It's bad to leave a kid stranded at high school after tennis practice....not that I would know this from any personal experience...)  So I picked up a few fun boards from Kohls & Target and created this communication center:
Now if it's not on the board, it doesn't happen.

#3:  Strawberry Pie and Strawberry Jam!!!
If you read my post from Friday, we went strawberry picking last week.  The berries were delicious and so were the fixins' I made with them.  Yum!!

I did make a trip to Hobby Lobby this week and picked up some fun crafting items that I hope to get too VERY SOON.  Just buying them makes me happy because they are all so colorful and pretty...and that will have to be good enough for now.

Today is Day #1 with the National Writing Project!  Check back later to see how it went as I blog about the day's events.

And don't forget to enter my Rafflecopter drawing to win a $10 Amazon Gift Card and one of my Writer's Notebook Divider Page sets from my TpT Store.  This contest ends July 11th at midnight so enter now!
Have a great Monday!

  1. My son was in Boy Scouts for a while. The patches are hard work! I actually think my husband did end up doing a few of them. LOL! He would be very embarrassed to know I shared that. :)

  2. I love your communication board! I need to create something like it for my busy family. My boy was in Boy Scouts and my girl was in Girl Scouts for a while, so I know how hard those patches can be...so yes, you should have told your husband to give it a try. I'm sure that would have been fun to watch ;)

  8. I just revamped my communication center at home too! Now if only my sons would remember to write down where they are headed before they run out the door!

  9. I just got a craving for PB & J! Jam is definitely on my "to-do" list. I want to try to make some using Stivia instead of all sugar.

  17. What kind of sewing machine do you have? We just finished our first year of Cub Scouts and the boys outgrew their uniforms, which means I need to sew everything onto their bigger shirts... the sticky backs won't work anymore. Help please.
